The key areas covered in hematology include:

Blood disorders: The diagnosis and management of blood disorders such as anemia, bleeding disorders, and blood cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma.

Hemostasis and thrombosis: The study of blood clotting mechanisms and the diagnosis and management of conditions such as thrombophilia, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), and pulmonary embolism (PE).

Hematopoiesis: The study of the formation and development of blood cells, including red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.
